“May I join you?” I ask. “You’re reading one of my favorites.”
She carefully places her bookmark and lays the book on the table next to the other books.
She takes me in again and I become even more aware of her amazing deep brown eyes.
Almost like she is reading my mind, I watch a question form in her mind.
“Do you believe the eyes are windows to the soul?” she asks.
I feel myself take a quick breath, a little surprised, yet very pleasantly enticed because her voice poses the question both quietly and seriously.
There are a million places I can begin.
Looking at her, I decide straight forward is best.
